Sicily ferries are used by thousands of tourists each year because of the many advantages they offer: you will have the opportunity to shorten your travel time, transport your vehicle to the island and enjoy a comfortable journey. Your vacation begins on the ferry to Sicily!
Situated in the heart of the Mediterranean, Sicily is Italy's largest region, covering an area of almost 26,000 square kilometers. It also includes the archipelagos and smaller island groups such as the Aeolian Islands, the Aegadian Islands, the Pelagian Islands, Ustica and Pantelleria.

Thanks to its strategic location, history and attractions, Sicily is considered the pearl of the Mediterranean and is among the most popular destinations during the summer season in Italy and overseas.
Compare departures, timetables and offers in just a few clicks and choose the combination of trips you want on MrFerry.

Ports and routes
Sicily is connected by sea with the Italian mainland, Sardinia, the smaller islands of the surrounding archipelagos, Malta and Tunisia. If you are planning on reaching Sicily from Italy know that Sicily ferries depart from Italy all year round. Choose the port closest to you between the port of Genoa in the north or Livorno and Civitavecchia in the center to Palermo or, if you are in the south of Italy, the ports of Naples and Salerno to Palermo or Milazzo, Villa San Giovanni to Messina.
If you want to visit both major islands of Italy, then the Palermo Cagliari route is definitely the ideal way to travel between Sicily and Sardinia.
If you are traveling from abroad, however, you can reach the port of Palermo from Tunisia. Sicily ferries depart throughout the year 3 times a week from the port of Tunis. Another foreign travel option is the one traveled almost every day of the year between the ports Pozzallo and La Valletta on the island of Malta.

TIPS:

  • The shortest route from the Italian mainland is offered by the Caronte&Tourist shipping company which crosses the Strait of Messina in 20 minutes only, from Villa San Giovanni to Messina.

  • The longest route is the Genoa Palermo, which takes around 22 hours and connects Sicily with northern Italy. It is ideal for avoiding a long car journey and relaxing during the trip. An alternative to this route is the Livorno Palermo connection, which is shorter and cheaper on average. It is worth bearing in mind that fuel costs can also have an impact on the travel budget and the ferry can be a more environmentally friendly alternative.

  • Sicily ferries, having numerous connections, are chosen by millions of passengers who wish to take their vehicles and as many luggage as they need without extra fees!

Services on board

🚗 Vehicles
Travel with your car, motorcycle, bicycle, Rv or minibus on board all Sicily ferries.
Please Note: some of the smaller islands – such as Aeolians - experience significant traffic restrictions during the peak season, where the influx of vehicles to the islands is reduced to avoid pollution. MrFerry will allow you to book your ferry without requiring the necessary documentation to bring your vehicle to the island, but you will be asked to do so upon boarding. The shipping companies reserve the right to deny boarding if you do not have permission to take your vehicle on the islands.

💺 Accommodation
On board Sicily ferries you will find different types of accommodation: from the classic deck passage, which does not have an assigned seat but allows you to stay in the common areas of the ship, to the air seat, which can be the right middle ground for those who want their own seat without incurring major costs, to the cabin for exclusive use.

Accessibility
On board you’ll find assistance for passengers with reduced mobility. Remember to stand in the right-hand lane with the hazard lights on when boarding to inform the crew that you need assistance with embarkation or disembarkation procedures. The ferries to Sicily are equipped with elevators to allow wheelchair passengers to reach the upper decks with ease. If you choose to travel by hydrofoil, we advise you to check on the vessel that will operate the time booked since not all hydrofoils are suitable for transporting passengers with reduced mobility.

🐾 Pets
When booking your ferry to Sicily, remember to include your pet to your reservation! Your pet can travel with you on all the common areas of the ships, in the pet friendly cabins or in the on-board kennels.
Remember, in addition to the ticket, your pet will need to have the necessary health documentation, leash, muzzle or a pet carrier.
