Routes, ports and destinations
GNV operates numerous international routes between Spain, Italy, North Africa and Albania, as well as domestic routes to the Balearic Islands, Sardinia and Sicily.
GNV ferries to and from Albania with Italy
One of the most important routes operated by GNV is the Bari Durrës ferry. This link operates daily, with one or two crossings a day. This means you can reach the Albanian capital from southern Italy.
GNV ferries to and from Sicily and Sardinia with mainland Italy
GNV Ferries, based in Genoa, specialise in services to and from Italy. If your destination is Sardinia, you can choose to embark in Genoa or Civitavecchia for the ports of Olbia and Porto Torres. Sicily is linked to the peninsula by ferries to Palermo and Termini Imerese from the ports of Genoa, Naples and Civitavecchia.
GNV ferries to and from Morocco and Tunisia
To reach Morocco and its ports of Tangier Med or Nador, you can choose to embark at Sète. Other ferry links to Morocco are from Spain (ports of Barcelona or Almería) or Italy (ports of Genoa and some departures from Civitavecchia). If you want to go to Tunisia and its port of Tunis, you can depart from Genoa, Civitavecchia and even Sicily and the port of Palermo. These connections vary in frequency according to the itinerary and the period chosen.
GNV ferries to and from Spain and the Balearic
Islands Ferries depart all year round from the ports of Valencia and Barcelona to Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza. Departures are in the evenings and returns are during the day. From the port of Barcelona you can also reach the beautiful Italian region of Liguria and its port of Genoa.
Check-in and boarding on the GNV ferry
There are two ways to check in passengers at the port. If you are travelling on foot, you will need to go through the ferry terminal to validate your ticket and go through document control. You will then receive your boarding passes. If you are travelling by car, all reservation and document checks will be carried out in the area reserved for this purpose at the boarding gate.
The documents to be presented are:
✔ A valid and original identity card or passport for each passenger, including minors.Photocopies will not be accepted, nor will the digital format on your smartphone.
✔ The registration document for your vehicle, if you are taking it on board.
✔ Your pet's European passport and health certificate with all vaccinations and microchip, if your pet is travelling with you.
✔ Your ferry ticket. This can be digital or printed on paper. All you need to do is scan the barcode on the ticket.
Check in time
For all Italian and Spanish GNV ferry routes, you must be at the boarding gate with your vehicle two hours before departure time, or one hour before if you are travelling on foot.
However, on routes to Tunisia, Morocco and Albania, you must arrive at least four hours before departure time, with or without your vehicle.
For an extra charge, you can book the Priority Disembarkation option. Your vehicle will be given priority parking in a designated area of the garage. This allows you to make the most of the GNV ferry's services as quickly as possible, but also gives you priority disembarkation. Please note that this option is only available on crossings from Genoa to Tunis, Palermo, Olbia or Porto Torres.
Special fares and prices
GNV offers special fares for all bookings made well in advance of departure. If you book months in advance, you can benefit from significant discounts on the basic price of your GNV ticket. When planning domestic travel, it is important to be aware of the age requirements for young travellers. In Albania and Spain, infants (0 to 4 years old) are considered INFANTS and therefore travel free of charge, while older children (4 to 12 years old) fall into the CHILDREN category and are entitled to a reduced fare. If, on the other hand, you are planning to explore Morocco, the distinction is slightly different. Here, children under the age of 2 are considered INFANTS, while CHILDREN are between the ages of 2 and 12. In the case of Tunisia, it is useful to know that INFANTS include children from 0 to 2 years old, while the CHILDREN category extends from 2 to 15 years old.
