Olbia ferry Companies and connections
The port of Olbia is located in the north-western part of Sardinia and is the main port on the island for passenger, freight and cargo traffic. Ferries from Olbia are one of the most popular ways of getting to Sardinia: for this reason there are several companies operating on these routes.
The shipping company Grimaldi Lines operates connections between Olbia and the ports of Civitavecchia and Livorno. Moby is also involved in the Olbia port lines, operating on the routes from Livorno, Piombino and Genoa. Grandi Navi Veloci operates ferry services from both central and northern Italy, with departures from Olbia and the ports of Civitavecchia and Genoa (the latter only on a seasonal basis). Tirrenia and Grimaldi Lines also operate services between Civitavecchia and Olbia. The crossing times vary from a minimum of 5 hours and 30 minutes for the Piombino Olbia route to a maximum of about 10 to 11 hours for the Genoa Olbia route. During the high summer season there are numerous connections between Olbia and other Italian ports, but during the winter period only the connections between Olbia and the ports of Livorno and Civitavecchia remain active, guaranteeing between 2 and 4 departures to Livorno and one to Civitavecchia.
With MrFerry you can check availability and the ideal route for your needs in the period required on board one of the numerous Olbia ferries.
Olbia ferry Port services and useful information
The Port of Olbia, just 30 minutes by car from the Port of Golfo Aranci, is made up of 9 quays divided into 3 areas: the Cocciani dock for industrial activities, the Isola Bianca dock for tourist and commercial traffic and the Inner Harbour for pleasure craft.
The part of the port dedicated to the Olbia ferries is the Isola Bianca quay, which can be easily reached by following the signs for the Olbia ferry terminal. Inside this area, in addition to a large waiting room where you can wait for your ferry, there is a restaurant, a bar, a shop selling typical Sardinian food and wine products and handicrafts, a medical service, an information point and a luggage room.
The area is open every day of the week from 06:00 in the morning until 23:00 at night. If you need to park your vehicle near the port, you can use the public and private car parks near the terminal. In case of need, you can contact the port information point, which operates 7 days a week in two time slots: a morning slot from 06:00 to 11:00 and an afternoon/evening slot from 17:00 to 22:30.
If there are passengers with reduced mobility on your ticket, you can request the necessary assistance at the information desk: dedicated staff will accompany travellers in the phases before departure or after arrival at the port. Passengers can also request the use of wheelchairs provided by the Port Authority.

If you need to get to the port to catch the Olbia ferry and you are travelling without a car, remember that the railway station is in the centre of the city, 2.4 km from the port: to get there just take bus number 9 and travel for a few minutes. The airport, on the other hand, is 5 km from the port, and in this case the most convenient and efficient way to get to the pier is by taxi.
