The port of Olbia is the main gateway to the Costa Smeralda located in the town of Gallura, in the province of Sassari. The port is one of the most important in Sardinia, as it is continuously expanding, thanks mainly to tourism, so much so that it comes to count about 2.5 million passengers arriving and departing per year.

Its seafaring history dates back to pre-Roman times where it was already exploited as a port for the exchange of goods.

The Port of Olbia has 9 docks and is divided into 3 areas, Cocciani Port the part dedicated to industrial activity, the Isola Bianca Wharf intended for tourist and commercial boarding, and the last is the inner harbor dedicated to recreational boating activities.

The shipping companies that allow stopovers to and from Olbia are Grimaldi Lines, Moby, Tirrenia, and Grandi Navi Veloci, and they provide connections to ports such as Genova, Civitavecchia, Napoli, and Livorno daily, both day and night.

The Olbia ferry terminal has a good security service and an excellent organizational plan for embarking and disembarking.
The ferry terminal located in the port area offers services for your needs such as waiting room, information desk, bar and baggage storage, 24-hour medical assistance.

The proximity to downtown Olbia, just a few kilometers from the ferry terminal, makes it easy to walk around and discover restaurants, bars, stores, and other essential activities.

Olbia ferries About Olbia

The city of Olbia is a mix of new and ancient, in fact it still preserves intact historical evidences of the Nuragic civilization that date back up to 4000 years ago, you will notice it just in the historic center where you can find the squares such as that of Terranova Pausania, Piazza delle Terme and Piazza Matteotti.

Olbia is the perfect destination if you are an archaeology lover, there are numerous archaeological sites of tourist and historical interest such as the Dolmen of Cabu Abbas, a tomb in the locality of Contra de Ossatru and the very famous Menhir of Puntiddone.

Also famous are the beautiful beaches you can visit such as the Saline beach, the first one you can find by proximity. It is a rather long bay of coarse-grained sand and lends itself very well to long walks by the sea. Also not to be missed is Doctor's Beach, Porto Istana, Punta Molara Beach and Cala Brandinchi (San Teodoro).

Olbia's port is located close to the city's historic center, so much so that you can walk to it and enjoy a walk that skirts Olbia's old houses. In the summer months especially, the city becomes colorful and filled with stalls, festivities and typical products. There are also plenty of hotels and b&b's stretching all the way to Porto Rotondo.

Right near the port you'll overlook Corso Umberto, the town's main street filled with stores, stalls and clubs. In summer in front of the town's Town Hall you'll find the famous Tourist Market with local crafts, where you'll find all the typical products of Sardinian culture, from food to traditions.
