Ferries Malmö Travemünde Ferry companies timetables and offers on MrFerry!

You can easily reach one of Germany's major ports from southern Sweden: board one of the Malmö Travemünde ferries, the most suitable solution for those wishing to travel by car, motorbike or camping van!

Travemünde is located in northern Germany and is one of the country's main ports on the Baltic Sea. The city was founded in the 12th century as a stronghold and, in 1329, was incorporated into the city of Lübeck, of which it is still a district today. It takes its name from the river that runs through it, in fact the toponym means 'mouth of the River Trave'.

⛱️ In the 19th century, the fortifications were demolished and the town was dedicated to tourism, becoming an important holiday resort. In those years, the symbol of the town became the Kurhaus Hotel, an elegant hotel residence immortalized by the writer Thomas Mann in his novel The Buddenbrooks.

⛵ In summer, the harbour town hosts various events. At the end of July, the Travemünder Woche, a week dedicated to regattas, is held. From the end of May until October you can visit the Sand Festival, an exhibition of spectacular sand sculptures created by Europe's best artists.

∙ Start exploring the city from the promenade along the River Trave and head to the Passat museum ship, a 115 metre long sailing ship that can also be visited from the inside. Head to the lighthouse, which was built in 1539 and is the oldest on the German Baltic coast. Following the construction of a taller lighthouse, it lost its original function and today houses the town's maritime museum.

∙ Retrace centuries of history through the narrow streets of the old town, characterised by half-timbered houses and brick buildings. Enter the elegant Church of St. Lorenz and discover its 450 years of history, from the remains of the ancient choir to the precious Baroque altar.

∙ Take the car and reach Lübeck in half an hour! Visit the city's landmark, the Holstentor, an ancient Gothic gate. Walk along the waterfront and see the 20 perfectly restored museum ships. Admire the Gothic churches that characterise this magnificent city.

🌳 Immerse yourself in nature! Less than 1 hour's drive away you will find the Lenorenwald forest, a protected area where you can stroll along well-maintained paths and observe a special feature: two large American redwoods that mark this area.

→ The Travemünde ferry terminal is located at the Skandinavienkai quay, easily accessible by car or public transport from the city of Lübeck. There are short and long term parking facilities. The route is covered throughout the year with up to 3 departures a day by the ferry company Finnlines, whose ships connect the two ports in about 9 hours.

The departure times allow all those using the Malmö Travemünde ferry route to embark either in the morning, reaching the port of arrival during the day, or at night, arriving at their destination the following day, thus accommodating the needs of all passengers.
