Salerno, a provincial capital, is a city overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea located between the Amalfi Coast. The city of Salerno was founded by the Etruscans in the 6th century B.C. and underwent several dominations over the centuries, which have characterized its history, cultural and architectural heritage.

The port of Salerno, whose origins date back to the 13th century, has always been an excellent alternative to the busy port of Naples. Today the port area is an important commercial port of call for southern Italy and the entire Mediterranean Sea. It regularly welcomes numerous ferries, cargo ships and cruises, and handles a significant number of passengers and cargo containers.

🚢The entire port area of Salerno is rather large but very well organized. In the northern area is the largest port, the Ponente and Trapezio piers accommodate larger vessels, while to the south are the smaller Manfredi piers, current Stazione Marittima (a splendid work designed by the famous architect Zaha Habib) and the Concordia pier (also called Molo Masuccio), located in front of the square of the same name.

The TraVelMar shipping company offers regular hydrofoil departures from Salerno Concordia to the most beautiful locations on the Amalfi Coast. This is an active service during the summer months from May to October.

You too can choose one of the convenient hydrofoils from Salerno Concordia and reach some of Italy's most beautiful villages such as Positano, Amalfi, CetaraMinori, Maiori and Vietri sul Mare! Check prices and availability in real time on Mr Ferry.

Thanks to the pier's proximity to the city center, transit travelers have easy access to various services such as accommodations, pharmacies, banks and ATMs, stores and supermarkets, tobacconists, bars and restaurants, parking lots, car and scooter rentals.

HERE IS A TIP: if you want the cheapest tickets on the market, ideally you should look for them months in advance so as not to fall into the trap of the high season when prices soar!

🚢 When booking with Mr Ferry select your departing time and date and reserve a standard accommodation which includes one seat per passenger and reach your destination in total comfort!

Salerno Concordia ferries About Salerno Concordia

Salerno is a city rich in history, art and culture, and was also home to the first medical school in Europe. Among its most important museums are the Archaeological Museum, the Virtual Museum of the Medical School, and the Provincial Art Gallery located in Palazzo Pinto, which house works by Italian and foreign artists.

In its historic center you will walk along splendid Art Nouveau buildings built in the early 1900s, the wonderful Verdi Theater, and important religious monuments such as the Church of St. George and the Church of the Santissima Annunziata. Another must-see is undoubtedly its Cathedral of Santa Maria degli Angeli, San Matteo, and San Gregorio VII, a complex that embraces different styles from Romanesque to Arab-Norman.

Other must-sees in this city are the Minerva Botanical Garden, which offers a splendid view of the city, the ancient medieval aqueduct that runs through the center, and the spectacular alleys of the historic center, which have undergone considerable redevelopment in recent decades; in what is now a true open-air museum, you can admire splendid murals where famous phrases and poems are engraved, and the Vicolo delle Fornelle, is the best example.

If you have time for a relaxing break head to the town beach of Santa Teresa, or climb to the beautiful medieval castle of Arechi where there is a wide view of the Gulf of Salerno. Among the locations near Salerno we recommend visiting the beautiful Archaeological Park of Paestum, the town of Cava de'Tirreni, and the beautiful Amalfi Coast.
