Puttgarden is a city located on the German island of Fehmarn, in the Baltic Sea opposite to Denmark, and is connected to Germany by a road and railway bridge.

In the 60's in the city of Puttgarden was built a railway terminal for ship embarkation, as an expansion of the Vogelfluglinie, direct transport route between Copenhagen and Hamburg, with the intent of connecting more easily Germany and Denmark. The port is about 5 km from the city and can be reached by public transport, bus and rail located outside the terminal. Well connected to the German mainland and not far from the A1 highway, it is about 60 km from Kiel and Lübeck and about 100 km from the city of Hamburg.
