Nestled between sandy beaches and nature reserves, the village of Porto Vecchio is considered one of the most beautiful in Corsica.
The starting point of your visit to Porto Vecchio is Piazza della Repubblica, the symbol of the city. From here you can easily walk to the centre of the old town to visit the narrow stone streets that are characteristic of Porto Vecchio.
⛪ Some of the city's historic buildings, such as the Church of St. John the Baptist, the Chapel of Santa Croce and the Patio, can be found just off Piazza della Repubblica.
Porto Vecchio was built by the Genoese at the beginning of the 16th century and still shows traces of its origins: the “citadel” on the promontory, surrounded by narrow streets and stone houses, the Genoese gate and the Bastion of France, from whose terrace you can enjoy a 360° view of the city's gulf.
Visit Porto Vecchio by ferry and discover the historic city while strolling through the small boutiques. Enjoy some free time in the many cozy cafés and restaurants in the town and marina.
🏖️ Around Porto Vecchio there are also numerous beaches, the most famous of which are Rondinara, Tamaricciu, Santa Giulia and, of course, Palombaggia with its white sand and turquoise water. The beautiful fine sandy beaches with their calm waters invite you to swim, relax and enjoy other various activities and water sports such as water-skiing or windsurfing.
If you wish to travel by ferry to Porto Vecchio or take a ferry from Porto Vecchio to another city in mainland France, you will find numerous ferry routes departing from the port.
