The capital and main port of the island is Skala, a town where St. John the Evangelist was exiled to limit the spread of Christianity. During his time on the island St. John wrote the last book of the Holy Bible by hearing the voice of God coming out of a cleft in the rock and making the island a destination for believers from all over the world.

When you are in Patmos you can enjoy the warm summer sun on its beaches bathed by the crystal clear sea and taste its typical fish dishes at sunset. On the island you can move by public transport that connect the main beaches and resorts or you can rent a car or a scooter.

The charming medieval village of Chora is one of the main tourist resorts on the island, located on top of a hill can also be reached on foot, where you can visit the monastery of St. John and spend the day strolling around the city center full of souvenir shops, stores and bars.
