Ferries to KarlskronaPort connections and services

Karlskrona is a city in southern Sweden that spans several islands of the Blekinge archipelago in the Baltic Sea. Founded in the 17th century when the Swedish Navy was transferred there, it is now an important seaport. Its harbour, separated from the open sea by a series of islands, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The port of Karlskrona is divided into two passenger terminals: Handelshamnen near the city centre, and Verkö, located on the island of the same name, from which the ferry company Stena Line operates the connection to the port of Gdynia in Poland. The Karlskrona-Gdynia route operates all year round, with 2 departures per day. The ferries take about 10 hours to reach Poland.

The Karlskrona ferry terminal is located about 10 kilometres from the city centre, where all services such as shops, restaurants, bars, pharmacies and more can be found. Inside the Verkö terminal there are check-in machines, snack and drink dispensers, and a waiting room. In the immediate vicinity there is a restaurant and a pay parking area.

Karlskrona ferries About Karlskrona

The ancient seaside town of Karlskrona spreads over more than 30 islands in the Blekinge archipelago, its centre being on the island of Trossö. Thanks to its distinctive geographical formation and baroque style, it offers beautiful scenery and attracts many visitors every year.

→ Start with a tour of the old town: in the main square Stortorget you can admire the statue of King Charles XI, the city's founder, the Fredrikskyrkan church, and Trefaldighetskyrkan church, with its elegant round layout. Stroll through the quaint streets to discover shops and restaurants.

→ If you love history and tradition, visit the Blekinge Museum, with a rich collection of runes, Celtic masks and wooden handicrafts. If you are travelling with children, you will find a play area dedicated to them. At the Naval Museum, on the other hand, you can trace Sweden's maritime history and visit the museum ships moored just outside the building.

→ If you prefer to relax in the open air, Stumholmens beach is right next to the Naval Museum. There is also a playground for children. Visit the beach at Saltö or take your children to Wämöparken, a nature park with a small zoo.

→ Explore the Blekinge archipelago! On the island Aspö you can visit the 17th century Queen's Castle. On Stenshamn you can stroll along green paths or along beaches visited by swans. The islands offer plenty of activities: from kayaking to hiking and cycling. There are many excellent freshwater and saltwater fishing spots, as well as numerous restaurants where you can taste the catch of the day.

→ A 1 hour drive takes you to Kalmar, an ancient city whose port was once the centre of trade between Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. You can visit the majestic castle, whose construction began in the year 1100. Then you can cross the bridge to Öland, Sweden's second largest island where some Stone Age settlements are still visible.

→ Heading north, you can reach Åsnen National Park, located by the lake of the same name. There are a lot of lake islets that can be reached by canoe and dense vegetation criss-crossed by paths that you can explore on foot or by mountain bike.
