Golfo Aranci ferries About Golfo Aranci

There are several legends about the name of the port of Golfo Aranci, some think the origin on owes to a merchant ship that sank in that area losing a large cargo of oranges, while some believe it comes from “ranci” or crabs in dialect.

The town has been inhabited from the earliest times, and this can be seen from the presence of artifacts dating back to Roman times. The town is home to the Bottlenose Dolphin Research Institute, a world-famous center of culture and study. Definitely not to be missed is MuMart, an underwater contemporary art museum that you can visit while snorkeling.

Among the places you absolutely must visit are the promontory of Capo Figari (ideal for diving), Cala Greca, the sandy shore of Baia Caddinas, and the island of Figarolo.

The town has had a great tourist development, you can admire villages full of colorful little houses, typical Sardinian cuisine and you will shop in the center where the Parish of St. Joseph stands. The town's most important festival at mid-August is the Assumption linked to the fish festival.
