Lipari is the largest of the Aeolian islands and offers many things to do and see to its visitors. 🚢 The two islands of Lipari and Stromboli are connected by both ferries and hydrofoils. Hydrofoils are operated by the ferry company Liberty Lines and take about 1 hour to reach your destination. In high season, you can choose from 8 daily departures. If you prefer to travel by ferry, you can choose the Siremar ferries, which, with 4 departures a week, connect the two islands in about 4 hours.

🌋 You will arrive in Stromboli, an island with a unique and special charm. The volcano of the same name is active and constantly monitored, and you may happen to witness one of the frequent eruptions, with lava flowing down to the sea or explosions of ash and steam. Volcanic activity has led to the deposit of ash and lava that, over millennia, have formed the island's characteristic black beaches. One of the most striking is Ficogrande, which can be reached from the harbour with a 15-minute walk.

Ferries Lipari Stromboli On board services

You can choose to travel by ferry or hydrofoil and find very different services.

The hydrofoil trip is the fastest, although less comfortable. The only accommodation available is the seat and you will be allowed to carry one 10 kg hand luggage, which is included in the ticket price. Any additional luggage must be added to your booking. It is not possible to take bulky items such as furniture and household appliances.

By ferry, your journey will be much longer, but you will find many services on board. You can have a snack at the bar or a full meal at the restaurant, visit the shops on board or take a swim in the pool. Bookable accommodations range from deck passage to armchair to cabin.

→ BEFORE BOARDING: remember to arrive at the embarkation point within the time required by the ferry companies to check in. For hydrofoil departures you must do this 15 minutes before departure, for ferries 30 minutes before. You will need to show a valid identity document and your boarding pass, the latter also from your smartphone, no need to print it out.

Travel with your pet on board of the ferries and hydrofoils! Remember to include them in your booking and to bring a leash and muzzle, or keep them in the carrier if they are small.🐾
