The DFDS ferry company was founded in 1866 by the merger of the three most important shipping companies in Denmark. Over the decades the company has had a significant development and enhanced its fleet, until it became the leading ferry company in Northern Europe at the end of the 1990's.
With the purpose of providing a more and more functional maritime transport network, the DFDS features nowadays a fleet of thirteen safe and modern ferries, serving departures from the main ports of England, France, Holland, Germany, Denmark, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Sweden and Norway.

On board, DFDS ferries offer passengers several services like bars, restaurants, shops, entertainment rooms, nursery, children's playgrounds, restrooms, TV room and Wi-Fi. A wide range of accommodations are available such as lounge chairs, indoor or seaview cabins with beds and private bathrooms, suites and panoramic terraces. Services and accommodations may vary according to the ship concerned. For passsengers with reduced mobility accessible cabins with special access are provided, besides assistance while boarding and disembarking. Pets are welcome on board and dedicated kennels and pet-friendly cabins are featured.
