Blu Navy shipping company was founded in 2010, initially based in Milan and since 2015 based on the island of Elba, with the aim of creating a new local maritime service at lower fares and new departure times. Blu Navy is a company that has managed to build a real bond with the territory by listening to the real needs of the community.
In 2015 Blu Navy changed its name from Srl to Spa and started the renovation of its last purchase, the M/N Acciarello ferry. In 2016, the company acquired shares in Saremar, the recently privatized Sardinian shipping company, and restored Blu Navy connections between Sardinia and Corsica after acquiring the N/T Ichnusa.
Over the years, the number of Blu Navy departures to the island of Elba has increased significantly, the shipping company has been highly appreciated for its punctuality and service, and since 2019 it is also active in the winter months.
BluNavy Fleet and on board services
Blu Navy offers a daily service to the island of Elba on the Piombino - Portoferraio route all year round and a service between Sardinia and Corsica on the Santa Teresa di Gallura - Bonifacio route during the summer. With its 2 modern ferries, it currently operates not only in passenger and private vehicle transport, but also in the commercial vehicle sector.
The Blu Navy ferries have garages where a large number of vehicles can be embarked. The common areas have been recently renovated and feature comfortable air-conditioned lounges, TV, restrooms, snack bar, luggage storage, access to outdoor decks and additional seating.
On the Blu Navy route Piombino - Portoferraio and back, the company applies reduced fares for residents and all passengers with reduced mobility.
On both routes pets are allowed on board Blu Navy ships, for the duration of the crossing they must wear a muzzle and be kept on a leash. They can stay on the outside decks of the ship or, in the case of small animals, stay in their own pet carrier.
